Autumn Winter 2009/10 Print

It is with great pleasure I welcome you to this edition of the Heather and Hillforts newsletter.

Having lived in the shadow of Penycloddiau hillfort all my life, I felt privileged to be asked to become the Chairman of the Heather and Hillforts Partnership Board.

The hills of the Clwydian Range have had a strong influence on my life, it is where I belong. I hope that I will be able to share the magic of these hills and help to care for them so that future generations of my family and others will be able to  continue farming and come to enjoy this special place, as my ancestors and I have done.

It has been a busy year for the whole of the Landscape Partnership Scheme with high flying helicopter pursuits, long distance hillfort challenge hikes, large scale restoration and excavation projects and much more.

As we bring our second year to a close and begin our third and final year, not only can we proudly look back on what we have achieved, but look forward to yet another year of productive and exciting ventures.
